Juice of the vine at our meeting last night

Vitis californica 'Roger's Red'
Last night the Gardening Committee had another great meeting. This time at Greg Rubin's home. The treat of the evening: Vitis californica 'Roger's Red' grape juice and grape soda. Delicious.

Greg said he took about 150 pounds and stemmed, crushed, extracted and filtered this bounty into a very attractive grape-colored (!) juice. Some of the juice was then carbonated to make a nice, fizzy soda.

I loved the flavor - more tart than commercial stuff. It had that 'foxy' or lambrusca flavor.

All enjoyed it!

And the meeting was great, too. We focused on the upcoming Symposium. The word is getting out - postings on Facebook at water agencies, our own sites, friend's sites and anywhere we can get a posting. Registrations flowed in, then slowed and are now picking up again. Please register soon. We expect a sell-out.
